The Rotary Club of Sweeny has had several different types of fundraiser to help with our many Community Services Projects and High School Scholarship program.  The fundraisers have been Fajita dinner fundraisers, brisket and rib fundraisers and various raffles, however the most unusual fundraiser was when the club raffled off a a little girl...yes a little girl... let us explain!

A newspaper article from 1984 revealed that Sheriff King received an anonymous call revealing this intended raffle.  He investigated and revealed that the little girls name was Connie Michelle. Connie was left on the doorstep of the Rotary Club President, Thomas Collier with a note asking the Rotary Club to find her a good home. Mr. Collier explained that Connie was just "a little doll", she smiled all the time and never cried.  Connie Michelle came with adoption papers from land of Calico.  Yes, Connie Michelle was a 1984 Cabbage Patch Kid.

We wish we knew where she was today!
